High-quality wheel materials for your applications

The more diverse and challenging the areas of application of our wheels and castors, the broader the range of wheel-tread materials we offer. One of our main area of focus are VULKOLLAN®* and poly urethane elastomers, all of which are produced by a hot-casting process. These are non-marking and they stand out for their low starting and rolling resistance, high dynamic load capacity, and good abrasion and tear resistance.

We also offer a wide range of wheel-treads made of thermoplastic polyurethane, polyamide and rubber. These are particularly suitable for industrial castors used in factory environments for the internal transport of goods in indoor and outdoor areas.

VULKOLLAN® 93 Shore A / hydrolysis-stabilized VULKOLLAN®

VULKOLLAN® is a highly elastic, crosslinked polyurethane elastomer based on DESMODUR® 15*. Wheels and castors made from VULKOLLAN® have a long service life and can support heavy loads at a high speed. Their excellent mechan- ical properties include high dynamic load capacity, high abrasion resistance and tear propagation resistance, the highest modulus of elasticity of all elastomers, high mechanical wear resistance, high impact resilience and low compression set.

PEVOPUR®

PEVOPUR® is a high-quality polyurethane elastomer which offers good dynamic load capacity, high elasticity, good mechanical wear resistance and good compressive set characteristics. PEVOPUR® is also significantly more resilient than rubber. This makes the material especially suitable for applications involving medium loads and moderate speeds, and it is ideal for use in tropical climates.

PEVODYN®

PEVODYN® is a new high-quality polyur- ethane elastomer that we have developed with a long service life, offering significantly reduced starting and rolling resistance, high dynamic load capacity and high energy efficiency. Therefore, the material is particularly suitable for intralogistic applications involving the transport of large loads at a high speed. Thanks to its hydrolysis resistance, PEVODYN® is ideal for use in tropical climates.

PEVODYN® Soft

PEVODYN® Soft 78 Shore A is a new high-quality polyurethane elastomer that we have developed with high dynamic load capacity and significantly reduced starting and rolling resistance. The excellent mechanical properties of the material include high cutting, tearing and abrasion resistance as well as high energy efficiency. Thanks to its good noise reduction and vibration damping, PEVODYN® Soft is particularly suitable for the transport of medium loads at high speeds on surfaces where care is needed. And with its hydrolysis resistance, the material is ideal for use in tropical climates.

PEVOLON®

PEVOLON® is a thermoplastic material based on polyamide that stands out for its non-marking properties, good chem- ical resistance, high abrasion resistance, low rolling resistance and a high load capacity of up to two tonnes. Furthermore, the material is very resistant to heat and cold (-40°C to +90°C), although the load capacity is reduced for temperatures above 35°C.

PEVODYN® Soft

PEVOTHAN® is a high-quality thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer with excellent characteristics, including non-marking properties, high abrasion resistance, good damping power, loading capacities of up to 500 kg and temperature resistance of between -20°C and +80°C. PEVOTHAN® is also widely resistant to diluted acids and alkalis as well as mineral greases and oils. Thanks to these properties, PEVOTHAN® is superior to all normal rubber wheels and is particularly recommended for sensitive surfaces.

Wheels for rail conveyor systems

For rail conveyor systems in all areas of industry, we supply flanged wheels, guiding wheels and drive wheels from PEVOLON®, steel and cast iron. For special requirements, we also produce flanged wheels where the tread is coated with PEVOPUR® or VULKOLLAN®.

Mining

Heat, water, dust, mineral deposits: mining exposes people and machinery to extreme conditions. Because conveyor and transport vehicles operate nearly 24 hours a day as they mine for valuable raw materials, all the materials used need to be able to withstand these unique conditions and thus ensure safety and efficiency both above and below ground.

We’ve been successful in open pit and underground mining for more than 25 years and optimise wheels for a whole host of vehicle types and systems. Whether for soft or hard rock, our extraordinarily diverse wheel tread materials and our complete wheels have been tested in the laboratory and proven their worth on the job. We develop tailored solutions for special requirements in order to provide new prospects for future high-tech mining applications.

Load-haul dumpers (LHD)

As one of the most important pieces of equipment in mining, load-haul-dump vehicles work almost non-stop under the harshest conditions. Here, durable and long-lasting wheels are essential for preventing costly production losses. The proven reliability of our products minimises precisely such machine downtime. At the same time, low vehicle height is a decisive factor where adits are low and have uneven floors. This is another area in which we can offer specially tailored solutions for your specific needs.

Monorail systems for mining

Our products must be able to withstand the enormous contact pressures encountered in the transportation of persons and materials in mines. To fulfil these demands, we offer wheels with high-performance VULKOLLAN® 95 Shore A treads. This material stands up to the highest dynamic loading stresses and is characterised by a high static friction coefficient that enables the wheels to overcome inclines of up to 30 degrees.

Pit cage

Pit cages travel considerable distances between the pit bank and the workings when transporting people and equipment in and out of the mine and hoisting extracted materials to the surface. Smooth-running, well-damped and, above all, safe wheels made with anti-static materials are an absolute must for mine-hoisting systems. Our wheels offer the additional benefit of a particularly long service life: they last up to six times longer than conventional wheel tread materials, at speeds of up to 21 metres per second.

Shuttle Car

As the link between the continuous miner at the face and the conveyor line, shuttle cars frequently have to master difficult and uneven surfaces. Especially for such conditions, we offer wheels with and without treads that can be optimised in collaboration with you to meet the specific needs in your mine. In comparison with con ven tional wheels with the same dimensions, wheels customised with PEVOTEC® treads can handle much higher loads.

Recycling

Raw materials of all kinds are scarce. This not only applies to fossil fuels, but also components of everyday materials such as cardboard and paper, making a well-functioning recycling infrastructure all the more important. Our wheels and rollers are used in modern recycling systems. Lightweight packaging, cardboard packaging, household and bulky waste, and bio- waste can be recycled efficiently.

Belt Conveyors

Both stationary and mobile belt conveyors with swivelling elements are used in recycling and waste disposal systems for quick transport of bulk goods over longer distances. Depending on the composition of the materials being transported, the drive and running wheels and rollers need to be able to withstand many different kinds of strain.

Screen drum systems

Screen drums form the heart of modern separating plants and require high-quality wheels to operate efficiently: they’re positioned on running and drive wheels, whilst an additional pressure wheel prevents axial displacement. Our VULKOLLAN® wheels ensure quiet operation and minimise vibration. We can easily adjust the size and load capacity of the wheels based on the screen drum system used, taking into account the fraction size, the throughput and the material to be separated. Our wheels also demonstrate their load capacity, durability and abrasion resistance in mobile compacters and lift trucks.
